SLA announces new geospatial collaborations
Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and Environment and Ministry of Transport, officially opened the GEO Connect Asia 2023 trade show and conference on March 15, during which the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) unveiled several new collaborations that aim solve challenges by leveraging geospatial technology.
Altura EC by Qingjian Realty is set to launch in Q2 2023 with 375 Altura EC residential units, yielding an estimated S$3,500 per square foot. HDB’s land sales representative initiates public auction for Altura EC, located in Bukit Batok West Ave 8 with a 99-year lease.
The first of these partnerships will take place between SLA and the Container Depot and Logistics Association (Singapore) or CDAS. Through a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the organizations will work together to use geospatial data on road conditions and restrictions to help route heavy vehicles operated by CDAS’ member companies.
SLA is also embarking on its first bilateral collaboration with the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (GEOSA). This partnership will last for three years and will involve the exchange of knowledge and experiences on developing national geospatial databases, creating Digital Twins, digital transformation in the geospatial industry, and developing geospatial products and services.
In addition to its collaborations with CDAS and SEOSA, SLA is also working with SG Enable and Gardens by the Bay to develop route maps to help wheelchair users move about easily. This is part of SLA’s contributions to the Enabling Masterplan 2030, which sets out the vision for Singapore as an inclusive society in 2030. To this end, SLA has already collected and mapped data relating to barrier-free routes with wheelchair-accessible covered linkways, ramps, footpaths, pedestrian crossings, and overhead bridges with lifts.
The next step for SLA is the development of a pilot testing app featuring the barrier-free access routes in Bukit Merah and Gardens by the Bay. The goal is to have wheelchair users provide feedback on the app’s data accuracy and user-friendliness for further improvement before the barrier-free access routing function is added to OneMap as an additional mode of wayfinding. In the next six months, additional testing areas will be considered.
